'Our Story'

NEW STATE OF THE ART EXHIBITON OPENS IN JUNE

An exhibition with a difference opens on Thursday 19th June 2025 at the Natural History Museum, as the walls and floors of the Jerwood Gallery are set to 'burst forth with life' with 'Our Story, a 360° experience, presented by Sir David Attenborough.

In a natural pairing of Sir David, footage of the natural world, cutting edge animation and cinematic projection technology produced by some of the filmmakers behind his tv documentaries, this new 50-minute experience promises to deliver an engaging experience.

There's no-one better to tell a story such as this than Sir David Attenborough, who narrates the tale of humankind, as visitors are surrounded by wonderful imagery, music and sound whilst witnessing the birth of life on our planet more than 4 billion years ago and then watch as it evolved over the next billions of years. The audience will become immersed in scenes from our earliest beginnings, to following a humpback whale beneath the waves and watching a family of gorillas playing in their rainforest home.Whilst reflecting on how we came to change the world around us for good and for bad, Sir David also shares his personal experiences and hopes for our planet.

Speaking about the spectacular he said, "Humanity is the most influential species on Earth. We depend entirely on this magnificent planet, yet its future is in our hands. My hope is that visitors of all ages will experience our extraordinary journey at the Natural History Museum and come away feeling inspired, informed and most of all, empowered about their integral role in our world."

NB: The Jerwood Gallery has hosted a wide range of 'planet' themed exhibitions over the years from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year to Luke Jerram's Museum of the Moon. It was also transformed for the European premiere of The Wider Earth, a theatre production which brought to life the intrepid journey undertaken by the 22 year old Charles Darwin on HMS Beagle.
